Museums closed across Cyprus on Wednesday as a nationwide 24-hour strike by hourly-paid government employees affects the Department of Antiquities.

According to an announcement by the Department of Antiquities, all museums, archaeological sites and ancient monuments will remain closed to the public on 24 June 2026.

Department apologises for inconvenience

The closure follows the announced island-wide strike by hourly-paid government staff.

The Department of Antiquities expressed its apologies for any inconvenience caused to visitors and the public.
