A hail of gunfire shattered the quiet of a residential area in Strovolos shortly after midnight, when unknown assailants targeted the offices of a financial services company.
Police rushed to the scene after receiving reports of shots fired and confirmed multiple bullet holes in the building’s entrance, consistent with automatic weapon fire.
The area remained sealed off for hours. At first light, investigators from Nicosia CID recovered 20 spent shell casings which have been sent for forensic examination.
Closed-circuit television footage from the area is now being studied in an effort to identify the perpetrators and their vehicle.
No injuries were reported and nothing was stolen. Police are treating the incident as a deliberate attack and investigations are ongoing.
