Meniko farm fire kills over 1,000 newborn lambs

More than 1,000 newborn goats and lambs were killed in a fire that broke out at a livestock farm in Meniko at around 7pm on Tuesday, police said.

Police and the Fire Service rushed to the scene shortly after the blaze erupted at the goat and sheep farm. Despite the response, the fire caused extensive losses, killing over 1,000 newborn animals.

Authorities said investigations will continue on Wednesday to determine the cause of the fire.
