Man wanted by US arrested on arrival in Cyprus

A 39-year-old man was arrested on Thursday at Larnaca Airport after arriving from abroad, as he was wanted by US authorities for serious cyber and financial crimes.

According to the Police Communications Branch, the man was arrested on 22 May at Larnaca Airport upon his arrival, after it was determined that he was the subject of a Red Notice issued by Interpol at the request of the United States.

A temporary arrest warrant was issued against him, and he was taken into custody.

The suspect is expected to appear today before the Larnaca District Court for the start of extradition proceedings.
