A man found dead in Larnaca has been recovered from the sea off Finikoudes beach after search and rescue operations were launched on Monday morning.
According to a statement by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), “On 4 August 2025 at 10:56, the National Search and Rescue Plan ‘NEARCHOS’ was activated to locate and rescue a missing Greek Cypriot swimmer reported missing in the Finikoudes area of Larnaca.”
For the operation, a speedboat from the Port and Marine Police, as well as a vessel from the Larnaca District Administration carrying a team of lifeguards, were mobilised.
The man was located by lifeguards, found unconscious, and brought ashore. He was transferred by ambulance of the State Health Services Organisation (OKYPY) to Larnaca General Hospital, where his death was confirmed.
Authorities have not yet released the man’s identity.
