Major warehouse fire in London

Date:

Around 150 firefighters rushed out on 25th of November to tackle a blaze in a warehouse in west London, where fireworks were likely stored, according to rescue services.

The fire broke out at about 09:00 local time (11:00 Greece time) for reasons that remain unknown, sending thick smoke billowing over the area. No injuries have been reported so far.

“We’re working at full speed to bring the situation under control… We’ll stay here through the night, and our crews will keep operating,” said Patrick Goulbourne, deputy assistant commissioner of London’s fire brigade.

He added that several explosions had occurred, “likely caused by fireworks stored inside the burning building”.

Residents told Agence France-Presse they heard powerful blasts.

“There was an extremely loud noise, louder than gunfire… I’d say there were, if not thousands, then at least hundreds of explosions,” said Wassim Ismail, who works at a nearby car park.

Authorities urged residents in surrounding areas to keep doors and windows shut.
