Low pressure over northern Egypt is moving northwards and will begin affecting Cyprus from tonight, while a new disturbance from the west is expected from Friday. Dust will be present in the atmosphere, with concentrations periodically reaching significant levels.
Today, the weather will be mostly cloudy, with isolated showers expected from midday onwards. Winds will blow mainly from the northeast to southeast, initially weak to moderate, 3–4 Beaufort, but will soon strengthen to moderate to strong, 4–5 Beaufort, and locally along the coasts very strong, 6 Beaufort. Seas will be generally slightly rough to rough, becoming rough along the northern, eastern and southern coasts. Temperatures will reach around 22°C inland and along the coasts, and around 16°C in higher mountainous areas.
Tonight, the weather will remain mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Hail is possible during thunderstorms. Winds will continue northeast to southeast, weak to moderate, 3–4 Beaufort, and locally along the coasts moderate to strong, 4–5 Beaufort, though gusts may strengthen during storms. Temperatures will drop to around 11°C inland, 14°C along the coasts, and 6°C in the higher mountains. Seas will be slightly rough to rough in the west and rough elsewhere.
Thursday through Saturday, local showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected intermittently. Hail is possible in storms, and snow or sleet may fall on the higher peaks of Troodos. Winds will be significantly strengthened at times, especially along coastal areas. Friday and Saturday may see particularly intense or prolonged weather, especially in the western and southern regions.
Temperatures are expected to gradually fall through Saturday, remaining slightly below seasonal averages.
