Liopetri: Charred body found inside vehicle

Authorities are investigating the burned vehicle case in Liopetri, after a body was discovered inside a completely destroyed vehicle near a fish farm in the British Bases area, with police examining all possible scenarios.

Information regarding the burned vehicle incident was received at around 9am, prompting British Bases Police in Dhekelia to immediately secure and cordon off the area.

Fire Service units were deployed to assist with scene management and initial assessment, while investigators began collecting evidence from the heavily damaged vehicle.

Multi-agency investigation underway

Members of the Electrical and Mechanical Services also attended the scene as part of efforts to determine the cause of the fire linked to the case.

Authorities are treating the incident as complex, with multiple agencies working together to establish how the fire started and whether any external factors contributed.

Body found inside vehicle

Police confirmed that a body was located inside the burned-out vehicle in a fully charred condition, preventing immediate identification.

Forensic examinations, including DNA testing, are expected to play a key role in identifying the victim in the case.

All scenarios under review

British Bases Police in Dhekelia stated that all possible scenarios remain open as the investigation into the burned vehicle incident continues.

The inquiry is ongoing.
