A new chapter for Cypriot winemaking inaugurated at CHATEAU PUNIN
In an event marked by strong symbolism and developmental significance, the planting of Pinot Noir vineyards took place at CHATEAU PUNIN in Parekklisia, Limassol, an occasion signalling a new era for Cypriot wine production.

In attendance were the Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr Andreas Gregoriou; First Officer of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Mr Stelios Tsioustas; and an officer of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, Ms Elina Christofidou, along with representatives of the media and associates of the Group.
The event started with a historical overview by the Winery Director, Ms Dona Hadjiantona, who presented the winery’s journey from 2004 to the present day, its export activities and the international distinctions it has received over the years, highlighting its steady growth and dynamic presence.

Subsequently, Project Manager Mr Andrey Savchenko outlined the philosophy behind the project and explained the importance of soil and climate in vine cultivation, as well as the long-term production plan. Particular reference was made to the international identity of Pinot Noir, one of the most refined yet demanding grape varieties worldwide, and to the strategic decision to cultivate it in Cyprus.
The symbolic planting of the first vine was carried out by the founder of the Group, Dmitriy Punin. Those in attendance then actively participated by planting their own vines, in a moment of particular significance for the future of the project.

In his address, a representative of PUNIN GROUP highlighted the vision behind the investment:
“Today, we are not merely planting Pinot Noir vines in Cyprus. We are planting a vision. We believe that Cyprus deserves to stand out, not only in tourism and services, but also in quality and creation.”

He emphasised that PUNIN GROUP invests with long-term planning and a steady focus on the future:
“We are not pursuing quick profit. We seek to build something that will endure. We want to create wines of exceptional quality that will secure a strong position for Cyprus on the global wine map.”

It is noted that, while renovation works and the development of the new vineyards are ongoing, CHATEAU PUNIN is already available to host private, high-specification events. The venue combines its historic identity with its new strategic direction, offering a distinctive setting for corporate meetings, private receptions and themed events within an authentic winemaking environment.

The event concluded with a presentation of CHATEAU PUNIN’s winemaking philosophy, a wine tasting, and an open dialogue with the project’s technical experts.
With this planting, CHATEAU PUNIN inaugurates a strategic direction focused on showcasing the uniqueness of Cyprus’s soil and natural conditions through modern expertise, innovation and respect for the environment, with the aim of positioning Cyprus dynamically on the international wine map.
