A Limassol shooting is under investigation after gunfire was reported against a building operating as a hotel complex on Wednesday evening, causing damage to the property’s façade.
According to initial information, the incident occurred shortly after 6pm, when unknown individuals opened fire at the building, triggering concern in the area.
Gunfire from motorcycle, motives unclear
In an updated statement, police confirmed that two individuals on a motorcycle fired multiple shots at the hotel complex, which is located in the heart of Limassol and is described as being of foreign interests.
The gunfire struck the front of the building, causing material damage. No injuries have been reported.
CCTV footage under review
Members of Cyprus Police, including officers from the Limassol CID, responded immediately to the scene of the shooting, which was cordoned off as part of the investigation.
Investigators are currently reviewing closed-circuit television footage from the hotel and nearby premises, while statements are being taken in an effort to identify those responsible.
Police have not yet disclosed the number of shots fired or the type of weapon used. The motives behind the attack also remain unknown, as investigations continue.
