Date:

XeniArtSpace gallery, in Limassol, Cyprus hosts, for the first time, two unique works by the famous sculptor Anish Kapoor.

A press release by the gallery says that two works by one of the most influential contemporary sculptors in the world are hosted n in the gallery since last Friday. Art lovers have the opportunity to admire the renowned artist’s style up close, the press release reads.

In his first work, “Untitled”, from 2007, Kapoor transcends the flat nature of the medium, drawing the viewer into the interior of the work, just as he does with his sculptures, the Gallery announced.

In “Untitled”, the pulsating red lines are reminiscent of blood vessels, inviting the viewer to a reflection on the human body and its connection to existence.

The second work, titled “Spanish and Pagan Gold to Cobalt Blue”, from 2019, is part of Kapoor’s famous collection entitled “semi-spheres”, where the circle, often seen as a symbol of beginning and eternal return, literally acquires a new dimension, through reflective materials and optical effects.

British-Indian sculptor Anish Kapoor has received numerous awards, including the Turner Prize in 1991, the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2003 and the Knighthood in 2013, for his contribution to the visual arts. In 2009, he became the first living British artist to have a solo exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts.

His work is exhibited in leading institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, the Fondazione Prada in Milan, and the Tate Gallery in London. In addition, his sculptures are part of important and internationally renowned collections.
