According to police, the incident occurred at around 1:30 am while the 23-year-old was riding a bicycle along Omonoia Avenue in Limassol.
Three unidentified individuals reportedly approached him and demanded that he hand over the food he was delivering.
The victim refused, after which he was allegedly assaulted by the three suspects. Police said the attackers struck him with their hands and with an iron object, while one of them allegedly stabbed him in the abdominal area.
Suspects allegedly stole cash
Following the attack, the suspects allegedly stole €150 that the delivery rider had in his possession before fleeing the scene.
The victim later went to Limassol General Hospital, where doctors found that he had sustained injuries including abrasions on different parts of his body, swelling to his right eye and a superficial wound on the left side of his abdomen.
He was kept in hospital for further treatment.
Illegal stay offence also under investigation
During the investigation into the Limassol robbery, police established that the 23-year-old was residing illegally in the Republic and was arrested for the offence of illegal stay.
Authorities continue efforts to identify and locate the three suspects involved in the attack.
