Limassol brawl: street fight with metal pipes

Date:

Police were called to the scene of a violent street fight in the Polemidia area of Limassol on Tuesday (5 August), following reports of an altercation in the middle of the road.

According to police, at around 1pm on Tuesday a call was received reporting a fight between several individuals on Paphos Street in Limassol.

Police officers arrived at the scene and, according to their investigation, three men aged 62, 35 and 30 met with another group of three people aged 52, 28 and 14. The two groups became involved in a physical altercation, reportedly over professional differences.

Police said that inside the 35-year-old’s vehicle there were metal pipes, which are alleged to have been used by both groups during the fight.

All six individuals were taken to Limassol General Hospital where they received first aid treatment and were discharged.

The adults were then called to Agios Ioannis Police Station, where- after questioning- they were formally charged in writing for the offences of affray, causing a disturbance, and possession of an offensive weapon. The 14-year-old was not called to the station.

Agios Ioannis Police Station continues its investigation.
