Police are investigating a case of premeditated murder in Limassol, following the findings of a post-mortem on a 31-year-old man who died after falling from a balcony on 28 September.
The autopsy, carried out on Monday by forensic pathologists Angeliki Papetta and Orthodoxos Orthodoxou, revealed gunshot wounds to the victim’s abdomen that were inconsistent with a fall from height.
Following this development, Limassol CID issued an arrest warrant for a 26-year-old woman, who has since been taken into custody to assist the investigation.
The victim, identified as Gerome Zarate De Castro from the Philippines, was found injured at around 1am on Sunday outside the apartment building where he lived in Limassol. He was transported by ambulance to Limassol General Hospital, where he died from his injuries a few hours later.
Initial police reports had suggested that he fell from the balcony of his apartment, a height of around six metres.
The 26-year-old suspect is expected to appear before Limassol District Court today for a remand order. Investigations by Limassol CID are ongoing.
