A serious traffic accident occurred in Limassol on Sunday afternoon when a car struck a pedestrian, leaving her with severe injuries.
The incident took place around 3:00 PM on Misiaouli and Kavazoglou Street. The victim, a 47-year-old foreign national and permanent Cyprus resident, was crossing the road with two other people at the time.
Victim’s condition and injuries
The injured woman was taken to a private hospital, where doctors confirmed she suffered serious trauma, including broken ribs.
Driver arrested for DUI
The 49-year-old Greek Cypriot driver was heading eastbound on the same road. He underwent an alcohol test, which showed 93 mg% – well above the legal limit of 22 mg%.
Police arrested the driver and placed him in custody.
Ongoing investigation
Authorities are examining the conditions that led to the Limassol drunk driver accident.
