Police arrested a 39-year-old man on Thursday afternoon following a Limassol kiosk robbery in which a 16-year-old teenage boy was threatened with a knife and robbed of his mobile phone.
Police intervention at the scene
Authorities received information at around 2:45pm about a robbery at a kiosk in Limassol. Officers arrived at the scene and found the 39-year-old attacking a 16-year-old inside the premises.
Police intervened to stop the assault, and the suspect then turned against the officers. They proceeded with his arrest for offences committed in the act.
Knife threat and stolen phone
During a search, officers found a folding knife and a mobile phone in the suspect’s possession. The 39-year-old admitted he had taken the device from the minor.
Investigations showed he stole the phone under threat of a knife, confirming the circumstances of the kiosk robbery in Limassol.
Suspect held in custody
Police later re-arrested the 39-year-old under a court warrant and placed him in custody.
The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department continues to examine the case.
