Letymbiotis: Electricity interconnection project, among EU priorities

Date:

The Cyprus-Greece electricity interconnection project is a project of common interest and among the priorities of the EU, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said on Wednesday after the Council of Ministers meeting at the Presidential Palace.

Asked whether the issue of electricity interconnection will be raised at the trilateral meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Cyprus, Greece, and Israel, taking place on Thursday, in Athens, he said that according to his information it will not be on the agenda.

Referring to the FMs meeting, he described it as a very important one, saying that it is one of the most successful trilateral cooperations and collaborations.

He pointed out that the challenges in the region and the international developments require the strengthening of these trilateral collaborations.

Letymbiotis said that the electricity interconnection project is one of common interest, “it is part of the priorities of the European Union itself and the next actions are being evaluated by the implementing body, which is the Independent Power Transmission Operator, IPTO.”
