Lebanon’s Ministry of Health announced today that one person was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Marjayoun, near the border with Israel.
The country’s national news agency ANI clarified that the victim was a man riding a motorcycle.
Earlier, the Lebanese army reported that an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) targeted a military excavator conducting fortification work inside the Al Abara military base near Lebanon’s border with Syria.
A soldier was injured in the incident, the army added.
Israel and the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah began observing a ceasefire last Wednesday under a US-brokered agreement for a 60-day truce aimed at ending over a year of hostilities.
The agreement marked a step toward ending the conflict along the Israel-Lebanon border, which has claimed thousands of lives since it began following the outbreak of the Gaza war last year.
According to the French news agency AFP, multiple Israeli strikes have targeted Lebanon since the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah came into effect on 27 November. The pro-Iranian group has not announced any retaliatory actions.
