Lebanon plans political delegation
Lebanese political sources reveal plans to form a political delegation from Lebanon to hold direct negotiations with Israel. According to reports, the talks are expected to take place outside Lebanese territory, with Cyprus emerging as the most likely location.
Delegation composed of experts
Al Jadeed TV, citing confidential sources, reported that the delegation will consist of specialised citizens aiming to resolve current tensions. This announcement comes amid positive public opinion in Lebanon regarding the army’s handling of Hezbollah, which has been involved in attacks against Israel and even British facilities in Cyprus.
Context of the crisis
The move follows the collapse of the November 2024 ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, which was negotiated on behalf of Hezbollah. Since early March 2026, Israel has carried out over 500 airstrikes in Lebanon, while Hezbollah has responded with missile and drone attacks targeting British installations in Cyprus.
Earlier reports
Similar information about possible Lebanon Israel talks in Cyprus had emerged in January, highlighting ongoing efforts to find a diplomatic solution to the escalating regional tensions.
