The Larnaca District Administration (EOAL) will reduce water pressure across the district’s supply networks starting February 24, 2026. The move aims to rationalise water use and support conservation amid the country’s severe water shortage, following a 10% cut in supply announced by the Water Development Department.
Guidelines for consumers
EOAL reminded consumers of the legal requirement to maintain a water tank of at least 800 litres for each property. In apartment buildings, the ground or basement tank must feed functioning rooftop tanks in each unit, each with a minimum capacity of 800 litres. All pumping systems must be fully operational to ensure adequate water delivery, particularly to higher floors.
Implementation and public cooperation
The pressure reduction measures will start on Tuesday, February 24. EOAL urges consumers to install or check these water storage systems ahead of the date to ensure proper operation if needed. The authority emphasises that public cooperation is crucial to avoid further water cuts in the future.
