Larnaca nursery shut after baby found injured

Date:

A private nursery in Larnaca has been shut down after a shocking report of possible abuse involving an 8-month-old baby girl. The incident came to light when the infant’s parent noticed scratches on the child’s face and a bite mark on her back after collecting her from the nursery last Friday.

According to police, a formal complaint was made to Oroklini Police Station on 11 July. While the family has so far declined a forensic medical examination of the baby, the Larnaca baby case has prompted swift investigation by the authorities.

Checks revealed that the nursery had been operating without the required licensing. As a result, officials issued a suspension order and the nursery has since ceased operations.

Police are now investigating whether the marks on the child’s body may have resulted from deliberate abuse or possibly from an incident involving another child at the same facility. All relevant social welfare services have been notified.

The Larnaca baby case has sparked renewed concerns about child safety standards and regulatory oversight in early childhood care.
