Police arrested a 25-year-old man on Sunday 23 of November to assist investigations into an ongoing case involving assault causing actual bodily harm, attempted abduction, threats, extortion and illegal possession of an offensive weapon.
According to a statement from the Police Communication Branch, a 46-year-old Larnaca resident reported to police that, at around 17:00, he was attacked by three men while standing outside his home.
The complainant said one of the three struck him with a club, before the suspects attempted to force him into their car. He reportedly resisted, managed to escape and fled the scene.
Police investigations secured testimony against the 25-year-old, leading to the issuing of a court warrant for his arrest. He was arrested early this afternoon and placed in custody to assist inquiries.
The Kofinou Police Station is continuing its investigations.
