Larnaca: 43-year-old arrested for begging at traffic lights

A 43-year-old man was arrested in Larnaca on Monday evening as part of an investigation into begging.

According to police, members of the Crime Prevention Unit (OPE) spotted the man at traffic lights on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, where he was asking passing drivers for money.

Man found with small amount of cash

The 43-year-old was found in possession of a small amount of money.

He was arrested for an offence committed in flagrante delicto and taken to the Minor Offences Department.

The man was formally charged in writing and is expected to be summoned to appear before a court at a later date.

The arrest follows a police operation targeting offences in public areas.
