High dust concentrations reported
The Department of Labour Inspection has announced the suspension and rescheduling of all outdoor work and activities on Friday morning due to exceptionally high dust concentrations. Measurements from the Department’s Air Quality Monitoring Network show PM10 levels exceeding 200 μg/m³.
Health and safety regulations invoked
Under the Safety and Health at Work (Code of Practice for Protecting Persons During Dust Episodes) Order 2022 (K.D.P. 410/2022), all outdoor work must be halted until conditions improve. Employers are required to reschedule activities once dust levels return to safe limits.
Ongoing monitoring
The Department confirmed it will continue monitoring airborne particle concentrations and will issue a new advisory once levels are back to normal. Authorities stress that following these measures is crucial to protect workers’ health during dust episodes.
