Two bodies recovered on Monday, about 1km from the site of the sunken catamaran off Kyrenia, have been identified as five-year-old Mehmet Asaf Bicer and adult Nihat Pancar.
The announcement was made by the Turkish Cypriot administration on Tuesday evening. Authorities said another body was also recovered and will undergo DNA testing for identification.
12-year-old girl remains missing
Mehmet’s 12-year-old sister remains missing.
The latest identifications bring the officially recorded death toll to 18, one month after the Filo Jet catamaran sank on August 30.
Authorities currently list 10 people as missing.
Search operation continues
Search efforts are continuing with two vessels operating underwater, alongside aerial and other maritime assets.
The operation is focused on locating those who remain missing following the sinking off Kyrenia.
