Starmer Pledges to End Asylum Hotels and Crush Smuggling Rings
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer made a bold commitment via social media, promising to regain control of the country’s borders and implement radical changes to immigration policy if his government secures another term.
Acknowledging the strong public sentiment surrounding immigration, Starmer stated: “I know you are angry about immigration. I understand,” emphasizing that his priority is to reduce migration, end the use of hotels for asylum seekers, and intensify efforts to prevent illegal crossings by small boats through the English Channel.
He further stressed that the fight against human smuggling rings will be strengthened, with a clear goal to “crush the networks at their roots.”
Labour Government’s Position:
Starmer’s announcement comes at a time when immigration dominates the UK’s political agenda, with public concern growing over uncontrolled migrant flows and the conditions in which refugees are housed.
The Labour leader is aiming to prove that his party can implement a strict yet fair immigration policy, attempting to appeal not only to traditional Labour supporters but also to centrist and conservative voters.
