“Jimmy & Freddie” dance performance for Nicosia 2030

Date:

Nicosia 2030, candidate for European Capital of Culture, continues the promotion of young creators, through the programme #UNDER30, with the performance of Alexandros M. Kyriazi, “Jimmy & Freddie”. The official premiere will be given in Hamburg on 23 November 2024 and the next stop it will be Cyprus and the Nicosia Municipal Theatre, on Tuesday 26 November 2024 (20:30). For the performance, the choreographer and dancer Alexandros M. Kyriazi shares the stage with the German dancer Victor Aaron Bolzmann.

The choreography is about the adventures of two boys, Jimmy and Freddie, in the quiet little town of Tripville. Tripville is a town free of drama and loud personalities. The residents value their peace and above all, their quiet. When two, hormonally crazed, teenagers wreak havoc, they will strike deep into the peace and tranquility of this conventional small town. In their quest to discover Tripville’s hidden secrets and calm their testosterone-filled minds, they break into buildings, climb into abandoned factories and engage in all manner of mischief and playful antics. The citizens of the city are worried. What is happening in their city and is the existing peace and tranquility they have come to enjoy in their town in danger?

“Jimmy & Freddie” is a play that combines elements of theatre, dance and cinema. Its world comes to life through rhythmic relationships. Different stage elements – video projections, lights, music, qualities of movement and text – react and dialogue with each other. This rhythmic layer of the work aims for everything placed on the stage to be connected to each other and, as such, to help create a flow that the viewer is constantly invited and encouraged to follow.
