A weak low-pressure system is affecting the region, bringing a change in the weather in Cyprus. Today will see locally increased cloud cover and isolated showers, mainly in the east, while a gradual drop in temperatures and more widespread rain and storms are expected in the coming days.

A weak low-pressure system continues to influence the area.
Today, periods of locally increased cloud are expected, giving isolated showers around midday, mainly in eastern areas. Winds will blow mainly south-westerly to north-westerly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and occasionally strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort, in windward regions. The sea will be slight to moderate. Temperatures will rise to around 26°C inland, and on the southern and eastern coasts, around 24°C on the western and northern coasts, and 19°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight, locally increased cloud will persist at times. Winds will shift mainly north-westerly to north-easterly, light and occasionally moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will remain slight to moderate. Temperatures will drop to around 14°C inland, around 16°C on the coasts, and 9°C in the highest mountains.
Midweek outlook
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the weather in Cyprus will be mostly cloudy at times, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms expected. Temperatures will gradually fall noticeably, returning to the seasonal averages for this time of year.
