Iran warned on Thursday that it would respond “forcefully” to Israel’s recent attack on Iranian military facilities, which took place on Saturday, asserting that Israel “will regret it,” according to local news sources.

“The latest act by the Zionist regime, attacking our territories, was a desperate move, and the Islamic Republic of Iran will retaliate in a violent manner that will make [Israel] regret it,” stated Mohammad Mohammadi Golpayegani, a senior advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as reported by Tasnim News Agency.

Golpayegani praised the effectiveness of Iran’s air defenses, which he claimed prevented Israeli fighter jets from entering Iranian territory, and noted that the damage caused by the strikes was “minimal.”

Mohammad Mohammadi Golpayegani, a religious official of significant influence, heads the office of Ayatollah Khamenei, who holds ultimate authority over state matters.

On October 26, the Israeli military publicly acknowledged for the first time that it had struck military targets on Iranian soil in an operation it described as retaliation for an Iranian missile launch against Israel on October 1. Israel stated its strikes were mainly directed at missile production facilities, while Tehran downplayed their significance.

Iran’s military reported the death of four soldiers and clarified that only “radar systems” had been destroyed in the attack, which local media described as “weak.” Reports also noted one civilian casualty.

On Thursday, General Hossein Salami, commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, warned that Israel would face an “unimaginable” response. He added that Israel “has reached the point of collapse and now acts blindly, with no respect for rules, committing various crimes,” as quoted by Tasnim.

Following the October 26 strikes, Israel cautioned Iran against retaliating. Tehran, while stating it does not seek war, promised a response.
