Police Chief Themistos Arnaoutis has ordered an investigation into the circumstances under which a 17-year-old detainee escaped from Omorfita Police Station. Procedures have also been initiated to place a police officer on suspension pending an investigation into possible disciplinary responsibilities.

According to a police statement, Arnaoutis reviewed the incident report submitted to him and appointed an investigating officer to examine a potential disciplinary case against a member of the force.
