Instagram to let you “reset” its algorithm

Date:

Instagram has announced a new feature that will allow users to reset the content recommendation algorithm on their accounts. What does this mean? If you’re not happy with the content Instagram is “throwing” your way, you’ll be able to easily start fresh with personalized recommendations for the Explore page, the Home Feed, and the Reels tab.

This update is aimed at users who feel that the recommendations no longer reflect their interests. By resetting the algorithm, users will essentially begin re-training it from scratch to align with their current preferences.

The feature is particularly useful for those whose interests have changed over time. For example, users who previously watched many cooking videos but have since shifted their focus elsewhere may find these recommendations irrelevant. Instagram’s reset option is similar to a tool introduced by TikTok in 2022, which allows users to refresh their “For You” page when they feel content suggestions have become repetitive.
