Inside this year’s Lavender Festival in Platres

Date:

The Lavender Festival returns to Platres on Sunday, July 5, offering a full day of activities celebrating one of Cyprus’ most distinctive aromatic plants. The event promises entertainment and experiences for all ages, bringing together music, food, wellness and local products.

Running from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm at the village’s central square, the Lavender Festival aims to attract both residents and visitors for a summer celebration filled with colour and fragrance.

Lavender takes centre stage in gastronomy

The day’s programme begins at 11:00 am with a musical tribute to lavender and Platres. Afternoon performances featuring guitars and bouzouki will follow, while visitors will also be able to enjoy a sunset saxophone performance at 6:00 pm.

One of the highlights of the festival will be its culinary workshops, where participants can discover how lavender can be used in sweets, truffles, snacks, refreshing drinks and cocktails.

The workshops aim to showcase the plant’s distinctive flavour and aroma while introducing visitors to creative ways it can be incorporated into food and beverages.

Wellness experiences and artisan market

The festival will also include wellness activities such as lavender-water treatments, hair care sessions and relaxing massage experiences.

Meanwhile, the Lavender Market will host 32 exhibitors showcasing cosmetics, candles, handcrafted products, artwork and local lavender-based creations.

Organisers say the Lavender Festival seeks to create an experience combining nature, tradition, gastronomy and culture, while promoting Platres as one of Cyprus’ favourite summer destinations.
