IKEA issues precautionary recall of VÄRDEFULL garlic press

Date:

IKEA is urging all customers in possession of the black IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic press to stop using it immediately and contact the company, due to the potential detachment of small metal pieces.

The recall affects black garlic presses with date stamps from 2411 (YYWW) to 2522 (YYWW).

Consumer safety is IKEA’s top priority. As a precaution, the company is recalling the specified product as a manufacturing fault may cause small metal fragments to detach during use and potentially end up in food. IKEA uses a rigorous risk assessment and testing programme to ensure its products meet all relevant safety standards in every market where they are sold.

Nonetheless, it has come to IKEA’s attention that due to a production defect, small metal parts may break off and pose a safety risk.

Customers in possession of an affected garlic press- with article numbers 201.521.58, 305.781.89 and 601.636.02- should stop using it immediately and return it to any IKEA store for a full refund. No proof of purchase is required.

IKEA is also encouraging customers to spread the word about the recall, particularly if the product has been given away, lent or resold.

Affected products can be identified by the IKEA logo engraved on the top handle of the garlic press, as shown:

If a customer is unsure whether their garlic press falls within the affected range, they are also welcome to return it to any IKEA store as a precaution.

IKEA thanks customers for their understanding.
