If the US cuts military aid “we will lose”, says Zelensky

Date:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasised yesterday, Tuesday, that Ukraine would face defeat in the war with Russia if the United States ceased its support and assistance to the country’s armed forces. This comes amid Kyiv and its European allies’ fears of potential US disengagement once President-elect Donald Trump assumes office on 20 January 2025.

“If they cut it [military aid], I believe we will lose. Of course, we will stay, we will fight, but I don’t think we will have enough to survive,” President Zelensky stated during an interview with Fox News, the network favoured by the American right.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian air defence units are reportedly countering a Russian air raid on Kyiv, according to an announcement early this morning (Wednesday) by the military command of the Ukrainian capital.

Reuters journalists reported hearing explosions, which they attributed to interceptions.
