The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have announced a halt to strikes on Iran, while maintaining military operations in Lebanon against Hezbollah.
Ceasefire in Iran, heightened readiness in Lebanon
In an official statement, the IDF said it has “completed a wave of strikes in Iran” and ceased fire “in accordance with directives” from political leadership. The military added it remains “highly prepared to respond defensively against any violation” of Israeli territory.
However, the IDF confirmed that targeted ground operations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon will continue, underscoring that the ceasefire agreement with Iran does not extend to Lebanon.
Evacuation orders issued in Tyre
Residents of Tyre, a southern Lebanese city, have been instructed to evacuate immediately and move north of the Zahrani River “to ensure your safety,” according to the Israeli military. The evacuation order highlights ongoing security concerns for civilians in areas affected by the conflict.
While Israel maintains that Lebanon is not included in the Iran ceasefire, both Iran and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who helped negotiate the temporary agreement, have stated that the deal covers Lebanon, where fighting with Hezbollah continues.
