Human trafficking suspects released on bail – Victim testifies in court

Three individuals arrested in connection with a human trafficking case involving sexual exploitation were referred to the Nicosia Permanent Criminal Court on 17 April 2025.

According to the investigation conducted by the Office for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings (OCTHB) of the Cyprus Police’s Crime Combatting Department, a 26-year-old woman was identified as a victim of trafficking.

In her official statement, the woman described the roles played by each of the three suspects, who were arrested on 10 April 2025 and had been held under an eight-day detention order.

The charges under investigation relate to human trafficking, drug possession and distribution, and facilitating illegal entry into the Republic of Cyprus.

The case was officially filed and referred to the Nicosia Permanent Criminal Court, with the first hearing scheduled for 27 June 2025. The three defendants have been released on bail under strict conditions.

The case is being investigated by the OCTHB and the Drug Squad of Nicosia (YKAN).
