High temperatures and sunshine continue across Cyprus

Date:

A warm air mass continues to dominate Cyprus, bringing clear skies, high temperatures, and intense heat across the island. Temperatures are expected to remain well above seasonal averages through at least Saturday.

According to the Meteorology Department, today’s weather will be mostly clear following the dissipation of morning fog and low cloud. However, some increased cloud cover is expected in the mountains during the afternoon, with a small chance of isolated rain.

Forecast in detail:

Winds will be initially variable and light at 3 Beaufort, later shifting to south-westerly to north-westerly, light to moderate at 3–4 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly rough.

Daytime temperatures will rise to around 38°C inland, 31°C on the southeastern and eastern coasts, 28°C on the western coast, 29°C elsewhere along the coast, and around 30°C in higher mountain areas.

Tonight, the weather will remain mostly clear, though patchy fog and low cloud are expected to form later, particularly along the coast and eastern inland areas. Winds will gradually become variable and light at 3 Beaufort, and the sea will remain calm to slightly rough. Overnight temperatures will drop to around 19°C inland and in the north and west, and around 20°C along other coastal areas and in the mountains.

From Thursday to Saturday, the weather is forecast to remain mostly clear, though fog or mist and low cloud may form overnight and in the early morning, mainly along the coast and in eastern inland regions.

Temperatures will hold steady through the weekend, continuing to exceed the climatological average for this time of year.
