A serious maritime incident was recorded in the Strait of Hormuz after the Liberia-flagged dry cargo vessel Minoan Pioneer was struck by an unknown projectile, leaving one crew member missing.
The ship is of Greek interest and is under the commercial and technical management of Modion Maritime Management. The registered owner is listed as Siena Seas S.A.
Incident reported near Oman
The vessel attack took place around 20 nautical miles northeast of Khasab, Oman, at approximately 22:00 UTC on 3 August.
According to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), a commercial vessel sent a distress message through VHF Channel 16, reporting that it had been hit by an unknown projectile.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
