Grandma Fotini, the well-known Anorthosis fan who has won the hearts of supporters, shared her moving story on the show Mesimeri kai Kati.
“My husband was a fanatic; he was once president of Anorthosis, and when we were young, we used to go to GSE. Even today after the war, I follow them faithfully,” she said.
She spoke with pride about her bond with the team, stressing that Anorthosis remains part of the identity of refugees from Famagusta. “I love Anorthosis, it is something we brought from Famagusta, the only thing we have left. And of course, we cannot forget Salamina.”
Her love for the “Lady” has passed on to younger generations of her family. “Out of my eight grandchildren, at least six go to the stadium. The whole family supports Anorthosis.”
She also described the affection she receives from fellow fans: “The supporters of Anorthosis love me, they look after me, they help me. The love of the people for Anorthosis is great, and we wait anxiously for the next day, even though we are very sad about the current situation. Personally, I am very hurt by the decline of Anorthosis.”
Finally, Grandma Fotini expressed her wish to see Timur Ketspaya return as coach. “I would like Ketspaya back as coach, one hundred percent. He is our leader. He grew up with Anorthosis. He came here as a boy.”
