Four arrests for theft and illegal drug possession in Limassol

Date:

The police made four arrests yesterday as part of an investigation into cases of theft and illegal drug possession.

Theft report and investigation

On the morning of 29th January 2025, a resident of Limassol reported to the police that between 21st and 28th January, unknown individuals had stolen nine water heating cylinders (boilers) and three water pressure pumps from a construction site in Limassol. Police investigations led to evidence linking a specific vehicle to the case.

At around 11 a.m. yesterday, police officers spotted the vehicle driving through Limassol. When they stopped it for inspection, three occupants attempted to flee in different directions.

Arrests and drug possession

The officers managed to apprehend two individuals, aged 30 and 28, while the driver managed to escape. Upon being stopped, the two suspects were seen discarding two packages containing methamphetamine, with a total gross weight of 12 grams, along with two precision scales.

Both suspects were arrested for in flagrante delicto offences and placed in custody to facilitate further investigations.

Further arrests and evidence collection

Further investigations led to the identification of the vehicle’s owner, a 31-year-old man, who was later confirmed to be the driver. A court warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was taken into custody.

Additionally, police evidence also implicated a 38-year-old man, leading to the issuance of another arrest warrant. He was located, arrested, and also taken into custody for further questioning.

During the investigation, police conducted a search of an abandoned building in Limassol, where they discovered and confiscated five copper internal components of water heating cylinders (boilers) as evidence.

The Limassol CID and the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (Limassol Branch) continue their investigations.
