Forty-six dangerous products flagged by EU alert system

Date:

Forty-six dangerous products, not classified as food but posing serious health and safety risks to consumers, were flagged in the European Rapid Alert System for Dangerous Products (RAPEX – Report 34) for the week starting 18 August 2025, according to Cyprus’ Consumer Protection Service (CPS) under the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry.

The CPS is urging importers, distributors, and retailers who may stock these products to immediately cease distribution and notify the service. Consumers are advised to stop using the products (where applicable) and return them to the retailer from which they were purchased, while also informing the seller.

Under the Sales of Goods Law of 2021, consumers are entitled to a replacement if a product is found to be non-compliant. If a replacement is not possible, they may return the item for a full refund, provided the claim is made within two years from the date of purchase. The final seller bears full responsibility toward the consumer.

In cases where retailers refuse to comply with these rights, consumers are encouraged to submit written complaints via the CPS website.

For more information or to file a complaint, consumers can visit the CPS website or contact:
