Femme Fest Cyprus returns this Sunday at Acropolis Park

Date:

The Femme Fest Cyprus returns for its 5th edition, transforming Acropolis Park in Nicosia into a vibrant space of dialogue, creativity, and collective action around gender equality.

Organisers say Femme Fest Cyprus aims to bring together communities through discussions, workshops, performances, and interactive activities that highlight equality, inclusion, and social change.

The event takes place on Sunday, April 26, at Acropolis Park, starting at 15:00 with free entrance.

Music, theatre and live recordings

This year’s programme includes live performances and cultural expression as part of Femme Fest Cyprus.

Highlights include a live recording of Historicon, a concert by the band “Tούτες ένει”, and a musical performance by Aeris Duo.

Organisers say these performances form part of the festival’s wider aim to connect art with social dialogue.

Public discussions on equality and rights

The Femme Fest Cyprus agenda also features open discussions on pressing social issues, including gender-based violence, sexism in media, and the rise of far-right narratives.

Key discussion topics include the normalisation of far-right rhetoric and its impact on human rights and younger generations, as well as the relationship between violence, power, and justice in society.

Workshops and community participation

Workshops remain a central part of Femme Fest Cyprus, focusing on awareness, empowerment, and lived experiences.

Sessions include workplace sexism, menopause discussions that aim to break taboos, and workshops exploring women’s unpaid and invisible labour through creative expression and art therapy.

Organisers stress that participation and dialogue lie at the heart of the festival’s purpose.

Activities for children and families

A dedicated children’s space will also operate throughout Femme Fest Cyprus, offering interactive storytelling, crafts, and gender-awareness activities.

The programme encourages children to engage with ideas of equality and acceptance in a creative and inclusive environment.

Organisation and support

The Femme Fest Cyprus event is organised by the POGO Women’s Movement, with the institutional support of the Commissioner for Gender Equality.

It is hosted by the Municipality of Strovolos and supported by the National Machinery for Women’s Rights.
