A 53-year-old man has been remanded in custody for eight days in connection with the femicide in Chloraka, where his 34-year-old partner was stabbed to death.
According to police, the incident occurred on 17 August in Paphos. A neighbour testified that she heard a young boy screaming “help, my mother” and then saw him holding his neck before leading her to their apartment, where the woman was found lying in a pool of blood, struggling to breathe.
The witness called an ambulance using the boy’s phone. While waiting, the child reportedly told her that the suspect also lived there and might have harmed himself. Moments later, a man in his fifties emerged from the bathroom with blood on his hands and legs before going back inside.
Police also secured testimony from the victim’s underage son, who said he saw the suspect stabbing his mother and then attacking him as well. He managed to shout for help, alerting neighbours who called authorities.
The suspect allegedly admitted to stabbing his partner. His car has been sealed and moved to Paphos police headquarters for examination under a court warrant. A state pathologist will examine him, and forensic tests will be conducted on evidence collected from the scene.
