Fatal paramotor glider accident claims life of 31-year-old in Larnaca

Date:

A tragic accident involving a paramotor glider occurred on Thursday morning in Larnaca, resulting in the death of 31-year-old Antonis Kourras from Anagyia. The incident happened at around 08:30 in the coastal area of Parasolia in Kiti, while two Greek Cypriot men were flying their own motorised paragliders.

According to reports, both men were flying in the same area when, under circumstances still under investigation, one of the gliders lost control while flying at low altitude over the sea. The glider, which uses a petrol-powered engine with a rear propeller, veered off course and crashed into rocks near the shore. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but Kourras was pronounced dead by paramedics.

Officers from the Kiti police station, along with members of the Air Accident Investigation Committee, attended the scene. Authorities have launched a joint investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. Initial indications point to a loss of control.
