The two expert scientific committees monitoring the ongoing earthquake activity along the Anydros fault, in the sea between the islands of Amorgos and Santorini, met on Sunday to examine the data so far collected on the phenomenon and to decide whether the measures that have been taken should be extended.

They included the Permanent Scientific Committee for Assessment of Seismic Risk and Reducing Seismic Danger and the Permanent Scientific Committee for Monitoring the Greek Volcanic Arc of the Earthquake Planning and Protection Organisation.
So far, a civil defence state of emergency has been declared in four island municipalities – Santorini, Amorgos, Anafi and Ios – in order to deal with emergencies and manage the repercussions of the intense seismic activity.
