Erdogan on Iran missile targeting Turkey: “Nothing left to chance”

Date:

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed that nothing will be left to chance regarding the security of Turkey’s borders and airspace, following the ballistic missile Iran launched towards the country.

Erdogan addresses troops

Speaking on Wednesday during an iftar with soldiers at the Special Forces Command, Erdogan said Ankara is taking all necessary steps to safeguard the nation and is closely coordinating with NATO allies.

“Just as in the incident earlier this morning, we take every precaution in close consultation with our NATO partners and intervene immediately where needed. At the same time, we issue the clearest warnings to prevent similar incidents from recurring,” he said.

Determination and capabilities highlighted

Erdogan emphasised that Turkey’s determination and ability to ensure the safety of the country and its people are “at the highest level.”

He reflected on the country’s progress over the past 23 years, noting that despite obstacles, embargoes, sabotage, and, as he described, betrayals, Turkey has continued to work relentlessly and strengthen its capabilities.

“By believing in ourselves and trusting our nation, we have reached levels once considered unimaginable. God willing, we will achieve even greater heights,” he added.

“Turkish Century” ambition

The president reiterated his vision of building the so-called “Turkish Century”, stating that the country will overcome all barriers and leave future generations a homeland “they can be proud of.”
