Erdogan tells Fox News: I do not consider Hamas a terrorist organisation
Talks on fighter jets
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that he will negotiate the purchase of F-35 fighter jets during his upcoming meeting with US President Donald Trump this week.
Speaking on Fox News’ Special Report, Erdogan was asked whether he expected the green light for the acquisition of F-35s during his visit to Washington, where he is due to meet Trump on Thursday.
“At this stage we will negotiate again on this issue. We expect the United States to do what is necessary, both on the F-35s and on the issue of the F-16s, including their production and maintenance,” the Turkish president said.
Comments on Hamas
Asked if he regards Hamas as a terrorist organisation, Erdogan replied: “I do not consider Hamas to be a terrorist organisation. I see it as a resistance group.”
He added that Israel is committing “complete genocide” in Gaza, and held Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responsible.
