The cost of a traditional Easter table in Cyprus is expected to increase by about 4% this year, according to the Consumer Protection Service’s Easter Price Observatory. The largest price rises were observed in tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs, and chocolate Easter eggs.
For an indicative table for eight people, this year’s total is estimated at €186.42, compared with €179.36 last year. Lamb prices increased slightly to €14.10 per kilo from €13.46, while tomatoes surged 81% to €4.43 per kilo and greenhouse cucumbers rose 10% to €3.28. Feta cheese also saw an increase to €3.09 for 200 grams from €2.70.
Other price changes
- A dozen large eggs: €3.73, up from €3.34
- Large tsoureki: €5.46, up from €4.98
- Flaounes: €13.66 per kilo, up from €13.17
- Soft drinks (8 cans): €5.30, up from €4.88
- Chocolate eggs: €8.47–€15.32, with some increases up to 22%
On the other hand, potatoes (€0.95 from €1.22) and charcoal (€5.91 per 5 kg from €6.19) recorded lower prices.
The data were collected on 6 April 2026 from 87 outlets for fresh meats and 65 outlets for baked goods across all districts.
Consumer guidance
The Consumer Protection Service stresses that price observatories serve only as a general reference and do not replace individual market research. Consumers are encouraged to compare prices and product quality before purchasing.
