Drunk tourists in Ayia Napa attack police officer with a stick

Two men were arrested in Ayia Napa after police on patrol late at night spotted them carrying offensive objects and behaving in a manner that caused concern.

According to police, officers encountered the two individuals shortly after midnight, with one holding a wooden object and the other a bottle.

Officer allegedly pushed during stop

During communication with the pair, one of the men, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, allegedly pushed a police officer.

He was immediately arrested for a flagrant offence. Both men were also detained for possession of offensive instruments.

Court appearance expected

The two suspects are expected to appear before court today for the immediate filing of charges.

The case remains under investigation by local authorities in Famagusta district.
