There has been no complaint of medical negligence and no indication of negligence on the part of the family of the 12-month-old boy who died last Thursday, according to the head of Limassol CID, Costas Michael.
Speaking on RIK’s Morning Route programme, Michael reiterated that police are investigating the case as a sudden death.
Regarding the exact cause of the child’s death, he said that the coroner will determine this only after the results of the toxicological and histopathological examinations are received and the case file is completed.
The child had been diagnosed with gastroenteritis three days earlier and had developed a fever. A paediatrician prescribed medication, but his condition deteriorated rapidly.
The boy was rushed to hospital by his father, where, despite the doctors’ extraordinary efforts to save him, he passed away.
